2nd trip to SAESL
As with other aerospace students, I am attached to an "industrial mentor". My mentor is a manager at SAESL (Singapore Aero Engines Services Limited). Basically what they do there is maintain and repair Rolls-Royce Trent Engines that are used on many aircraft. They do engine MRO for many aircraft in the region.
There are 5 aero student attached under my mentor, but one girl didn't come. In her place was Jing Ru who decided to come along (after being given permission). Oh, many thanks to Qiao Mei who fetched us there... again... =P
We spent much longer here this time, mostly in his office but also looking at some of the engines, fan and turbine blades. Talked about a lot of things concerning the Trent engines, in particular Trent-800, as well as our Aerospace Materials assignment. I was kinda surprised I understood so much more this time (as compared to the previous visit last sem). Apparently most of the theory and lab work were all relevant! Like static and dynamic stability etc... But there are still many things that I've gotta learn.
Decided to bring a notepad along this time because there are sure a lot of things to learn such as industrial practices and choice of materials etc. which our mentor kindly informed us about. Really thankful. There is a chance that we'll be doing some "vacation work" here during the 3 months holiday. That's cool... However, I dunno how will I cope with travelling from Boon Lay to Changi (quite near Changi prison) and back everyday. Maybe I'll bunk over at Jeffrey's place in Tampines? Haha...
OK, got lots of projects to settle so gotta go... Ciao!
