Hey guys, I've been rather busy sorting out stuff pertaining to my exchange to TU Munich recently + I haven't got the mood to blog about my HK/China trip.
Why no mood? Well, somehow I've become more aware and concerned of my country's politics recently and I am disappointed by the actions (or inactions) of the current government. A government in a democratic government that is supposed to be "of the people, by the people, for the people". I've been reading up blogs and alternative news sources recently and I must say... many Malaysians have been blinded by the government.
It's sad. And a solution to the problem won't come soon I'm afraid. Sure, Sultans and royalties have recently been more vocal about what they wish to see in Malaysia, more people are going online... But Malaysians ar... Apathetic towards politics and current issues. Ok probably Singaporeans are even more apathetic. But at least they've got a capable government able to lead the country forward. Malaysia's government...
Elections will probably come soon and if it's before the 2nd quarter of next year then too bad I won't be able to vote. But I'm betting that BN will still win lah. After all, with the Iskandar Development Region (IDR), Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) etc., ramai pakcik makcik tentu berasa pembangunan pesat akan membawa kemakmuran kepada mereka; ramai akan berasa kerajaan sedang membantu mereka. But in reality, not much of the wealth that the nation generates trickle down to the poor. The rich-poor gap is widening. And there is a worrying use of Islam as a political tool. I could go on and on...
I think many people were glad to usher in Abdullah Badawi as the new prime minister, especially those who disliked Dr. Mahathir's ways. I had high hopes on Pak Lah (as Abdullah Badawi is "affectionately" known)... there was a lot of "feel good" feelings when he started off... and he let me down. He let me down. Singaporeans tell me they think he's fine, we've got a somewhat more cordial relationship with Malaysia nowadays... but in Malaysia itself... he's just not solving problems. And they need to be solved. Lots of oustanding issues (within Malaysia itself, not with Singapore) have been bugging Malaysia for years, if not decades.
Malaysia (actually Malaya) will be celebrating it's 50 birthday on August 31. Hope it signals a change, a revolution of sorts in this nation that I so dearly love.
Love this poster. There are a series of these that you can download for free at Mob's Crib.
Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia ok? Take that Menteri Besar! =P

Thanks for sharing news on Malaysia.
I find it so hard to connect myself with Malaysia. The only thing I care about is my family in Malaysia.
Why do we have to live with those sh*tty stuff?
Haha... Have fun in Germany!
