Zweiundzwanzig Jahre alt

Omg! I'm getting so old liao! Think i'm still in the teenage years mentality.

Anyway, lots of things happened these few days... hopefully got time to write about them soon.

Oh, and this is my 200th post. Yippie!

Basah kuyup dah!

All wet liao! (translation)

The past few days were rather sunny (and quite hot), so I was expecting the incessant rainy period to end. But it rained again today... in merely 1 hour NTU was sprouting waterfalls, rivers and rapids. Crazy weather. I think the drainage system was not built to handle such volume of rain. And as the ground beneath is still probably wet (or moist) it is less able to absorb more moisture. Hence, the "rivers".

The JB trip I help "coordinated" was OK... Got me, Kok Vui, Yi Cheng, Jon, Janan, Samuel...probably next time will go Aeon Tebrau City instead coz there are more stuff to do over there (compared to Plaza Pelangi). Anyway the reason we went there was to sing Karaoke at Redbox. It's much cheaper in Malaysia, so next time I don't think I'll be going to KBox often. We had 2 and a 1/2 hours of karaoke + lunch meal + drink... There were 6 of us and the total charge was RM44.85.

Not blogging much nowadays coz the semester just started and I want to start off with a bang. Which means I'll be doing my revision, homework etc. right from the start, don't skip tutorials, don't skip lectures, be on time etc. So far so good... hope this momentum continues...

Floods are ravaging Johor again... Really seems bad from all the images I see on the internet and newspapers. I wish to clarify here that for both floods that have occured, Batu Pahat town was not affected (in case you read a lot about the situation in Batu Pahat getting worse etc.). The last time I went back lots of people asked me how was the flood at my place. There wasn't any flood lah!

For the Batu Pahat district it's the villages nearby that are affected, as well as smaller towns such as Ayer Hitam and Parit Raja. I witnessed that when I was on the bus back home... both sides of the road were quite badly flooded. Considering Batu Pahat is on low lying ground I am rather surprised that it isn't flooded. Probably it's because of the better drainage system that Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek fought for years ago when I was in primary school.

Anyway, hope the flood recedes soon!

First post of 2007!

Yippie! 2007 is here! Happy new year everyone~

Lots of things looking good. Kinda hard to not think positive... dunno why also. Maybe it's because the year started with this huge rainbow in the sky one evening:

Wouldn't have seen it if Ge Yao didn't sms me (She says this is the first rainbow she has seen in her life!). It's definitely one of the larger rainbows I've seen in my life; or maybe I don't remember the size of a typical rainbow. Anyhow, it was a pleasant sight, and I looked out to see if it was a double rainbow (I usually do), and it was! My photo-taking skills aren't very good, but you should still be able to see another rainbow above the bright rainbow. Learnt from a book last time that the colours of the rainbow twin is a mirror image of the bright main rainbow.

And the KLSE (Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange) rose to 1117.09 yesterday, up 20.85 points! I know I don't play stocks (not yet at least, no money), but it's still kinda exciting to see it go higher and higher. : )

Didn't go to see the fireworks this year coz I didn't want to squeeze amongst the huge huge crowd. I had a Billy Bombers meal for dinner (freakin' ex! Don't wanna talk about it). Then me, KV and Tang Ning (lonesome threesome) watched movies in KV's room--Curse of the Golden Flower and Blood Diamond. Curse of the Golden Flower is just a movie that shows the glamour and riches of Tang Dynasty (as well as boobs), but Blood Diamond is an interesting movie so go watch it if you can. Leonardo DiCaprio is a lead in the movie. His acting is really good! Not surprised that he is nominated for an award. I used to think he was a once-off, one-movie-wonder (Titanic), but my impression of him has changed since The Departed. ET (Eng Tee) joined us while we were watching the second half of Blood Diamond.

As per every new year, I have made new year resolutions, but there are a few newer ones this year:

* Don't procrastinate
* Be punctual
* Sleep earlier
* Do all tutorials, don't skip classes

Let's see how I fare when I review my new year resolutions on April 1st.

Met up with my JC classmates on Tuesday. My class, or as the school calls it, "civics group" , is 02/03 (三年二班). Haven't met them for a long long time! Most of them haven't changed much, even though they've ORD already. Too bad the whole class couldn't come; the attendance was quite good though... 15 people if I'm not mistakened. Had lunch at a Hawker Centre at Marine Parade, then went to play board/card games at Settler's Cafe. Didn't know they had a branch here! It's a concept store--it's a place where people play board or card games (a lot of rare ones or less common ones) and they can buy food and drinks if they want to at the same time. Spent most of my time playing "Munchkin" with Yi Cheng, Daniel, Kai Leong and Selina. It's like an RPG, only that it's on cards. Some of them said it was like Magic (as in the card game) too. Had Katong Laksa for dinner. All in all, had a great time. It was great to see old friends, even those that weren't very close to me.

Just discovered from her MSN nick that Sihan has a blog (and from there, that Tim, Vic, Lin Sui have blogs). Anyway, I was reading one entry where she had this image of the world and which countries she has visited highlighted in red. So I decided to go to the same website to get my own:

create your own visited countries map
or vertaling Duits Nederlands

So pathetic! The only reason Japan, Taiwan and Thailand are in red is because I had transfer flights from there. If I don't even count those... *sigh*. And Indonesia I've only been to one small island. China I've only been to one place! And only 8/50 states in US! And I haven't visited my uncle in Australia! Gotta go on a backpacking trip before I enter the workforce. Just gotta go.

Finally starting my URECA work! Didn't make full use of my holidays to do experiments etc. so gotta catch up on the lost time. Gonna claim money for the first time after so long too. Hopefully that'll encourage me to do more work.

I'm organising a Karaoke trip to JB this Friday. Just can't stand the expensive karaoke fares here anymore! Seriously, I wonder how they calculate the price; KBox S$6+++ usually ends up >S$15! So better off going JB RedBox RM7++ only (so says Yu Chii).

Realised I've just flunked one new year resolution--sleep early *sigh*. I'm outta here.
