Healthy Lifestyle?

I finally went swimming last Thursday evening at the National Institute of Education (NIE) with Jonathan, KV, Yi Cheng and Zhao Ling. Haven't been swimming for ages! The last time I swam was during hall orientation (end of July). It felt really really good to swim again. I hope to swim more often in the future...

But swimming alone was not enough... the next morning I went jogging with Jonathan and KV. They're too fast for me lah! Their starting pace was already faster than my usual pace, so my speed was substantially slower halfway through the usual route (one round around NTU and NIE, about 5km). I clocked 33 minutes (according to Jonathan), which isn't a good timing if you are running on level ground, but the route isn't flat at all... especially at the School of Biological Sciences... so I think I did fairly well. Pushed myself all the way through, so I didn't walked. Of course, I hope to improve my timing...

Then later that day I went for the free National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Health Screening tests... Somehow I have this feeling that NKF is doing all this because they want to regain the people's trust after the whole scandal thing. Whatever the reason, it was free so I thought why not since I never had a similar test before. The result: I am OK in all the fields tested (Body Mass Index, Waist-Hip ratio, Body Fat Analysis, Blood Pressure, Urinalysis, Cholesterol and Glucose levels in blood.). However, my Systolic Blood Pressure seems a bit higher than normal (Normal systolic/diastolic= 120/80. Mine was 127/70).

I spoilt my shoelace when I went running on Friday, so I'm going to Queensway to buy them + buy a pair of sneakers or something as well. Why these things happen during the exam period? Oh well, I could use a bit of air outside of NTU anyway ;)

Back to the books!

Movies!

Last week I attended a movie screening organised by the German Society of NTU (known as "Treffpunkt", or "Meeting point"). We were told to vote for a movie out of the 2 possible ones when we got our (free) tickets. The options were "Elephant Heart (Elefantenhertz)" and Run Lola Run "Lola Rennt".

Well, naturally due to the popularity of "Run Lola Run", it won. It was an interesting show, partly because it was in German :P Really enjoyed it... considering it was a low budget production, and the fact that it won lots of international prizes, it is a blockbuster of its own kind. Go rent the DVD or something if you haven't watched it!

"Flightplan" is coming out tomorrow. My uni's aerospace club will probably organise a movie outing to watch it. We will of course be concerned about the various things associated with flight in the movie (joking). It stars Jodie Foster, and it's basically about this mother frantically searching around the new Airbus A380 looking for her lost daughter. It is not a run-up-and-down-the-aisle type of search but rather going to all the weird hard-to-access compartments within a plane because she was involved in the design of the plane (but i would rather think that it was because she was a bit schizophrenic). Anyway, i should be able to watch the movie soon and try to give a more accurate review of the movie.

Everyone wants to watch "Corpse Bride"! Dunno why... but if someone asks me to watch i'll just go along i suppose. But not nearing the end of this month as exam are only 2 weeks away... Gotta study!!!! Especially Principle of Economics...@.@

My fridge has arrived! Haha... finally I will be able to buy milk, fruit juice etc. etc. and keep them...

Anyway, I must warn myself when I have dinner with my friends... Just yesterday I went to have dinner with KV, Minh Huong, Shing Yeong and Ke Yeng. After dinner Ke Yeng left, and the girls wanted to go see KV's room. And they wanted me to go along because they wanted me to play bridge (-_-)"'...

Well, in the end, we didn't play bridge. KV showed us some funny advertisement clips and video clips etc. Then Yu Chii came. Then we played MAHJONG! Wah... unbelievable man... supposed to study but played mahjong instead... until 10-something pm...

Anyways, went to NUS today to meet up with some old friends. Couldn't meet Vi though... First I met up with Joanna, who thinks she's fatter and thinks I'm thinner (-_-)"'. Chatted for awhile at McD. Went to see Yi Jian at Temasek Hall next. Lazed around in his room, watching a video clip and listening to some songs. Lastly went to see Wai Kit and Ching Mien at King Edward VII (VI? VII? VIII? I don't remember...) Hall. Had a mini-steamboat dinner at Prince George's Park Residences...

Everyday is getting rather mundane these days as the exams are drawing near. So actually nothing much to blog about. Expect even more boring blog entries in the near future... Haha...

ReCommers of Singapore... Unite!

I've finally met with some ReCommers in Singapore! Woohoo!

Well, it all started off like this: Jiinjoo (ReCom member) initiated a Meet-up in Singapore on the "Singapore Life and Education" SIG (Special Interest Group) on ReCom. So basically some people (ok, 3 people), said online that they agreed to meet up in Bugis. However, Jiinjoo doesn't have a handphone yet lah... haiz... So it was hard to contact him.

To cut a long story short, we met up in Jurong East instead of Bugis, and we chatted for sometime. Here's a photo!
